Customs officials are checking packaging of lithium ion batteries

Customs officials are checking packaging of lithium ion batteries

Sep 24, 2021

Due to the impact of Covid-19, China become the only country in the world that can produce a lot of

commodities normally. Massive orders poured into China. Overtime working become a common phenomenon among factories in China.

According to statistics, in the first half of 2021, the total value of import and export of goods trade in China is 18.07 trillion CNY,an increase of 27.1% over the same period last year. Among them, export is 9.85 trillion CNY, an increase of 28.1%. In the first half of 2021, Chinese annual merchandise export trade accounted for 16.2% of the world.

As the world's largest exporter of lithium-ion batteries, China is under great pressure from a sharp increase in sea and air shipments. As lithium ion batteries belong to class 9 dangerous goods, the Customs must issue a "Dangerous goods transportation

packaging identification certificate" ("DG Certificate" for short) before they can be exported legally. The tighten-up of DG certificate lead to the delay of shipment a lot which forced Superpack to lease temporary warehouse to stock the batteries like most of the export companies. Fortunately, Fenggang Customs noticed the phenomena and checked the cargos frequently as per lithium ion battery manufactuer's requirements.

In the morning of September 24th,2021, Fenggang Customs officials checked the packaging (up to 41 models) in  Superpack again. After check, Superpack loaded the batteries to containers for seashipment.
